VALLEY OF DEATH

With a hand on her shoulder I started,
Smiling we from our hearts of heart;
As we merry-go-round in this safari park of love.
From dusk to dawn and light to dark,
We watched the bonfires burn out it light,
And into her eyes I gazed,
As she into mine -
Until a spark of tomorrow I saw,
A beam of stride to the hereafter.

Her star and mine cuddled in the Galaxy;
So said the astrologer.
My rib made woman;
So said the priest.
My wanting soul she is;
So said the diviner.
But no I know,
She's an angelic monster.

My crave for lust had me swim in her,
I fell into the lap of the gods,
And I got snared in her saintly trap.
As with her venomous tongues,
Utterances of my downfall it spat.
Like a snake on a tree,
She wrapped herself on me,
Choking breath out of me.

I could scream not,
For she had me drained of energy,
She stripped me of dignity,
And my unclad self laid bare in air.
Once, I was captured by her angelic guise,
And now a slave to her devilish form I turned,
Alas, I'd been living in the valley of death.
