Give me a reason—
to take a side,
not choose another
or remain undecided.
to content myself with who
the world decides I am,
not explore the depths of my own existence
and decide for myself
what should truly define me.
to not tread those paths of nothingness,
embrace depravity nor
commune with those shadowy tentacles,
that inch ever closer
towards my soul,
grasping this sliver of humanity
that remains within me.
