Lo, I trekked the sea of life,
In sun, moon and storms;
I swam in the dust of ail,
Sniffing until I was high in poverty,
I'd lost my life even before now,
For I knew not what happiness was.
Slept I under duvet of frenemy's,
I told them tales of a golden sky,
Even when the clouds were dark;
I buried my pains,
So I could be a gospel to them,
I veiled how I hurt,
For I want them to smile always.
I took bullets for them,
So they could live;
I fought their battles,
So they could have a life;
In the sun, I toiled,
In times of pestilence, I drudge,
For in my sweat lies their well-being.
Oh now I lose my strength,
And my hope is dead;
My home beckons,
A place beyond the sea,
Shining bright like crystal,
I'd worked like a dog,
And now rest I deserve.
I'm gone till forever -
Never to be here ever again,
I've seen life but I've lived not,
For I dwelled in tent of turmoil,
I scavenged in the valley of death,
And now I'm no more,
I'm gone till forever!
