Fair?
Do not talk to me about fairness.
The only thing fair in my life is the colour of my skin
And even that seems to be changing,
If what I see in the mirror is anything to go by.
Life's not fair.
It's sad,
It hurts,
It's heartbreaking
And only by sheer will or blatant cowardice, am I still here.
The pain never goes away.
Sure there are small pockets of happiness here and there,
Like clear blue skies and white clouds.
But just like the void that's always overhead, the pain is just beneath it all.
So don't tell me to think happy thoughts,
I have none.
None that isn't punctuated by some grief or pain.
Just like light can't be without dark, my happiness is always coated by my hurt.
