DEAR MAY (LETTERS FROM JUNE)

Day 4 : (In)active forgetfulness
In active forgetfulness
We could learn to bury the snakes from our past.
I don't know how I got the scars on my wrist,
The burns on my palms,
Or these bloodstains on my shirt.
Inactive forgetfulness.

In active forgetfulness,
All I know is,
I loved you,
Once upon a dream,
My love was transparent,
Translucent,
The scary feelings of nostalgia.
Remember not to...
Ad nauseam.
Remember me to exhaustion.

Fill in the blank spaces
Of my perfunctory _"how do you do? "_
How...do I look today?
Do.You...remember me?
You look familiar... (I see you in my dreams)
Do you love me?
Remember...
Inactive forgetfulness.
Perfunctorily.
