DEAR MAY (LETTERS FROM JUNE)

Day 11 : The sound of naked bodies
Come, let us talk.
Sit next to me.
Let us talk.
Does the sound of naked bodies offend you?
Does it make you cringe and gnash your teeth in frustration?
Forgive me for speaking in abstractities and complexities,
But I am not known for filling awkward silences
with the sound of breaking eggs.
Pardon me for flaunting my womanity,
And for underlining my statements
with sexual undertones.
But I am not ashamed of the parts of me
that offend the likes of you.
There is a certain beauty that exudes
from quiet exhibitionism
Does the sight of my naked body offend you?
Do you wish I could cover it up,
In volumes and bales of broken records?
Falsehoods played over the ages,
Retold and foretold by your imaginary ancestors.
Your values, your false impositions,
They mean nothing to me,
For I have learnt to exist outside of nomenclature.
So come, sit next to me.
Let me show you how it feels
To find pleasure in the sound
Of our naked bodies.
