DEAR MAY (LETTERS FROM JUNE)

Day 10 : The men before you
I do dare say it,
That I have loved a thousand men in you, through you.
I do not deny it,
That I have pleased a hundred men like you, with myself.
Does it make you love me any less?
Am I suddenly less in your eyes
For my willingness to obey my passions,
my desires?
am I a devil for wanting a man in me?
Has it made me any less desirable
in your eyes?
Does your desire for me wane
As you try to imagine
The other hands that have held my waist,
The other lips that have kissed my lips?
Do not fault me for my deeds.
Or hold me to a higher standard than you.
I do not complain
about the thousand other women like me,
That you have loved and lost...
_lust_
The unimportant details of yesterday,
do not make me want you any less,
do not make me desire you any less.
Do not hold me to some hypocritical ideal,
That you yourself do not follow.
society is so quick to blame the other woman
Couldn't we just
Forget about the then
Let us live in the here and now
Let me love you
As I please
The only way I know how.
