DEAR MAY (LETTERS FROM JUNE)

Day 9 : To each his own
Why do you judge me on account of what I hold dear?
You seek to control
even my impulses. it is unsafe.
I cannot make you sultry promises,
The likes of which wet your dreams.
So please, leave me be,
To each his own.
I cannot be expected,
To hold your beliefs in my hands,
To help you sit on them, like eggs.
The gods bear me witness,
That I do not desire your thoughts.
Your will, actions,
I do not seek to control, to contain,
To each his own.
Leave me be,
To breathe my words,
As I have left you be,
To think your thoughts.
To each his own.
I do not seek your electrons, your chemicals,
Do not disturb mine.
I do not disrupt the contents of your pots
or ask to taste from them.
Do not ask for mine.
I do not seek to change
Your spatial orientation,
Let me float in mine.
