A PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS -THE SERIES

I - A PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS

Sitting across the table from her,
I'm almost drooling, I'm drunk on ecstasy.
I flip a coin, it gives a head,
"Milady, 50 Kobo for your thoughts", I say.

Snapping out of my trance,
I'm sure I heard this stranger speak,
His eyes carry a burning heat,
As he tries to decipher,
Even give "a penny for my thoughts".

Oh, those eyes, bewitching, settle on me.
Tight-lipped, she's waiting, I'll break the ice
"Even the least animals have their names
So what's yours, if I may ask?"

My name,
"What is in a name, that which we could call a rose by any other name that smells as sweet", Shakespeare's work resurfaces.
Yet I timidly answer, "Natasha".
The name's "Anita-Natasha".
I easily look away, about to recoil into my shell,
Courtesy won't let me,
I had to ask,
"And you, kind Sir?"

"Little wonder", I mused.
That's why there's beauty for two in her.
"I'm different things to different people, but
for the sake of our conversation, you can call me Bukunmi"

"Bukunmi", he said.
The first I've met,
A blessing, my blessing.
"So Bukunmi, do I give off the lost girl aura?
Or are my woes clearly written on my skin,
That you should take notice of me?"

I heard her question, it gave me a jolt.
"Being lost is but a requirement
for the right person to find you
And everyone has their tales of woe, so
do tell, I pray you, that solace may show up"

His answer sparked a flame in me,
His attention not on the loss but the find.
So I made him a promise,
I'll sit by the waterside and wait,
By sunset each day,
If only he'd ask me,
"Milady, a penny for your thoughts?"

I got her interest, so I'm satisfied.
She made a promise and now here's mine.
I'd meet her by the waterside every sunset,
Just to ask "Milady, a penny for your thoughts?"
